New Product: Inductors Introduced at Silicon Valley Conference

The Infinity Physics team is proud to present our new inductor product line being developed in tandem with a new series of products recently released by the industry leading National Instruments Corporation. The debut of the Infinity Physics inductor family supporting the National Instruments Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (ELVIS) Digital Electronics FPGA board are showcased at the National Instruments booth #928 at the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) Design West Summit at the McEnergy Convention Center in San Jose, CA March 26-29, 2012. Power electronics use of NI ELVIS is presented in the following link. “ESC (The Embedded Systems Conference) is the global electronics industry’s leading event. With cutting edge product demonstrations, visionary speeches and hundreds of essential technical training classes and accreditation opportunities, ESC is the ideal venue for the design engineering community to learn, collaborate and recognize excellence. In addition, ESC Silicon Valley celebrates decades of unique local electronics industry culture, innovation and significant contributions to the global technology industry.”
Our past family of protoboard to power custom made to order inductors, along with multiple other custom customer magnet types from high power superconductors to conventional copper winds, will soon include a full commercial off the shelf (COTS) product line currently under development for both solderless protoboards as well as solder based printed circuit board (PCB). The first offerings of this inductor product line will be made shortly both directly through Infinity Physics as well as directly through the National Instruments family of products.

These inductors improve upon a half century of protoboard inductors by not only providing the highest inductance per associated parasitic series resistance per inductor volumetric size for any inductor in it’s class as they double the inductance per parasitic resistance ratio over classic protoboard inductors, but they additionally provide optional top of the inductor instrumentation test lead loop taps.

The Infinity Physics 10 Series Linear Media Handling System (LMHS) product line supports the development of this COTS product family as well as any customer custom winding to complete LMHS needs.

Technology to Revolutionize the Superconductor Industry

In 2010 the US DOE announced a cessation of funding in fiscal year 2012 for the development of high temperature superconducting (HTS) wire. This is a strong indication that a sufficient maturity has been reached for commercialization. Particularly with the fragile nature of HTS wire, maturity of working with these materials has not proven sufficient to produce yields and reliability to support commercialization. The delicate nature of the media is even more extreme with the up and coming low temperature superconducting (LTS) reacted wires. Infinity Physics has addressed the material handling shortcomings of historical winding technology. The following table categorizes the compilation of improvements launched with the family of products for linear media handling.
